Job Description:
The Senior Manager will help lead and support high priority
programs on our journey toward becoming One Optum California. They
will play a critical role in driving functional integration,
standardization and optimization of patient and provider experience
and care delivery, and business transformation goals. The Senior
Manager will support design of operational models, program
roadmaps, and key milestones, metrics, and program goals. The role
requires high degree of collaboration across corporate and
market-level operations, and the ability to effectively leverage
existing subject matter experts (SMEs) to in decision making. They
will help to operationalize activities within priority programs,
and support change management activities to ensure
sustainability.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized,
process-oriented, and self-directed. This individual will have a
successful track record of designing and executing against major
clinical and operational implementation programs across both group
and IPA models of care and a solid understanding of healthcare
business needs. Examples of work includes standardizing clinic
operations and staffing models, supporting patient access
standardization, and defining consistent patient inbound and
outbound communication processes. The Senior Manager will report to
the Director, Strategy & Operations.
Essential Functions:
Partners with business leaders to develop and execute care delivery
integration plans by ensuring key milestones are met and
dependencies managed.
Leads select governance meetings and planning sessions with senior
cross-functional leaders.
Manages relationships with senior business leaders to provide
regular updates on progress, identify barriers and risks, recommend
path forward, and influence alignment on solutions.
Identifies process standardization opportunities, leads the
implementation of adoption of best practices and process
improvement efforts.
Develops and applies decision frameworks to reach discrete outcomes
for complex programs.
Oversees analysis, shapes data collection strategy, and supports
quality review and interpretation of analysis.
Sets direction, resolves problems, and provides guidance to junior
teammates and shared cross-functional resources.
Coordinates involvement of cross-functional business stakeholders
(e.g., operations, finance, accounting, IT, HR).
Anticipates areas of difficulty/potential unknown risks,
contributes towards creative solutions, and moves to action
quickly
Drives work independently, determines next steps, highlights risk
and barriers, and develops mitigation plan without extensive
oversight
Ability to travel to clinic locations throughout Southern
California to provide onsite support, facilitate and manage care
delivery integration meetings.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business
Administration, or clinical field, or a combination of education
and/or equivalent experience relevant to the role.
MBA, MHA, or Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
4-6 years' experience in management consulting, with mix of
strategy and implementation consulting projects in care delivery
settings
Experience as a site-based operational leader or clinician, general
management in care delivery, or progressive management or
performance improvement experience with patient-facing impact is
preferred.
Demonstrated project management, consulting, and facilitation
skills.
Familiar with healthcare concepts and practices as it relates to
providers and healthcare clinics.
Knowledge of Optum clinic practices and workflows is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft
Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interviewing and interpersonal skills.
