Job Description:
Duties: Responsible for all aspects of Cognos development and
data warehouse reporting in a high-availability, large-volume
systems environment. Will design, develop, test, install, and configure
software in a Java / (JVM, JMS, Servlets, Spring, Hibernate) and Cognos
environment. Applying experience with dynamic scripting languages
(JavaScript) and object-oriented design and design patterns (Gang of Four), will
develop new features to be used by internal colleagues and external clients
as defined by the Product Line Software Engineering Team. Utilize software
revision and control systems (Perforce), build tools (Maven, Ant) and bug
tracking systems (Bugzilla). Enhance reporting and data warehousing
capabilities to satisfy business requirements as defined by the Product Line
Software Engineering Team. Define logical and physical data models,
structure security layers and views, implement Cognos FM cube, and
configure and tune FM infrastructure to optimize commercial realization reporting
performance. Enable executive dashboard reports and analyze ad-hoc reports,
as well as troubleshoot and resolve data, system, and performance issues.
Enhance Ad Server technologies and rewrite legacy database framework. Train
database warehouse users and participate in process improvement
initiatives to refine database warehouse performance and functionality.
Responsible for the maintenance, adaptation, and implementation of new and
existing Data Modeling processes and procedures. Maintain customized
infrastructure on the company Network. Ensure key warehouse performance and
capacity metrics remain robust and have adequate excess capacity (requiring
system monitoring and tuning, log analysis, and code and SQL query
optimization). Extract and process data from outside sources and transform data
to be housed in proprietary data warehousing systems. Apply policies
and procedures, ensure compliance and advise on current trends and
standards related to data warehousing and Business Intelligence. Provide
on-call application-level support of production systems. Perform all
day-to-day duties following Extreme Programming, Agile, and SCRUM practices
(including pair-programming and test-driven development). Will perform work
in a Linux environment. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science,
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or
related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) as well as five
years of data warehousing experience in a Cognos environment or,
alternatively, a Master's degree and 3 years of experience as noted above.
Experience must include: demonstrated expertise designing, testing, installing,
and configuring software in a Cognos environment; demonstrated
expertise utilizing (“OLAP”) and Relational Online Analytical Processing
(“ROLAP”) tools to distinguish information and data; demonstrated
expertise with Oracle analytical functions, including Stored Procedures and
performance tuning of SQL queries using Hints, Indexing, and Partitioning of
tables; and demonstrated expertise with Cognos Framework Manager, Query
Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio, and Cube design. Conversant, Inc. is willing to accept a suitable combination of
